1. Find the Face Behind the Result – This is a neat trick you can use on a Google Image search to filter the search results so that they include only images of people. How is this useful? Well, it could come in handy if you are looking for images of the prominent people behind popular products, companies, or geographic locations. You can perform this search by appending the code &imgtype=face to the end of the URL address after you perform a standard Google Image search.

Google Increases Focus On Realtime With Realtime Search Page

Google has just announced what in my opinion is a pretty huge development in the search scene – a dedicated page to realtime search. Yes you can now access it on www.google.com/realtime (the page is stuck in a 404 loop as I am writing this, but you could try this url to see if you can get a glimpse).

The page, as it looks like at the moment, is the traditional Google search interface except that it doesn’t have the ubiquitous Google Adwords ads on the right. There are three columns with the middle one being updated in realtime from sources like Twitter, Buzz, Facebook and major news sites.

The Difference Between Page 1 and 2 In Google?

I thought it would be interesting today, to take a look at 2 sites in the highly competitive niche of “internet marketing”. One site sits in the middle of page one and the other in the middle of page two. Both ranking pages are the top level domains (TLD) so I thought it would be interesting to see why one site sits on page 1 and the other on page 2 respectively.

Browser Size: a tool to see how others view your website

Browser Size is based on a sample of data from visitors to google.com. Special code collects data on the height and width of the browser for a sample of users. For a given point in the browser, the tool will tell you what percentage of users can see it. For example, if an important button is in the 80% region it means that 20% of users have to scroll in order to see it. If you're a web designer, you can use Browser Size to redesign your page to minimize scrolling and make sure that the important parts of the page are always prominent to your audience.

Diagnosing Google Crawl Allowance Using Webmaster Tools & Excel

One big question however is how do you understand how Google is crawling your site? While there are a variety of different ways of measuring this (log files is one obvious solution) the process I'm outlining in this post can be done with no technical knowledge - all you need is:

* A verified Google webmaster central account
* Google Analytics
* Excel

How-to turn off Google Buzz

A lot of people with crowded Gmail inboxes are not too excited about the added posts on Google Buzz, and would rather part with this feature altogether.

Google Buzz, although automatically added to your account, is not a mandatory side effect of loving Gmail. You can turn off this service in just three easy steps.
